PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Drawing on book arts, printmaking, model making, machine design and industrial installation; I will be exploring the themes of extraction, consumption and waste. Ultimately this residency will allow me to plan, design, and write about a new triptych of self-powered (wind-up), wall mounted landscape mechanisms examining global environmental disasters. Working towards these new pieces I hope to make more refined and ultimately more relevant art by concentrating on developing ideas and designs. The process will synthesize my investigations into the landscape/infrastructure dichotomy and our collective concepts of beauty/horror over the effect that human population and industrialization is having on the planet.
