PUBLIC ART COLLECTION
–ENDOWMENTS–
Since 1957, several noted artists and friends of the arts have made significant bequests to CAAF and the visual arts community. The Calgary Foundation manages these funds and uses the annual interest generated by the funds to support the visual arts locally in various ways, according to the stated intent of the donors. Currently, the main uses for this money are the support of the CAAF artists residency program and purchases of artworks for public art collections. The Calgary Allied Arts Foundation is the beneficiary of Endowment Funds of more than a quarter million dollars. This legacy has been made possible through the generosity of many Calgarians, including H.B. Hill (1957), Wes Irwin (1978), Douglas Motter (1994), and Jim & Marion Nicoll (1986), all practicing artists.
OUR LATEST FUND
CAAF is has established a Designated Endowment Fund called the ‘Calgary Allied Arts Foundation Public Art Collection Fund’ for the purpose of providing an ongoing source of funds specifically designated for the purchase of artwork for the Public Art Collection of the City of Calgary. This fund was created by CAAF to secure a source of ongoing funds for the collection of work by visual artists who represent the Calgary region. Held in trust by The Calgary Foundation, the fund provides an opportunity for the general public to contribute to the continued growth of the Public Collection and to allow it to reflect current trends in the City’s visual arts Community.
